More Green Cleaning Tips

Sparkling whites

As soapnuts do not contain whiteners such as those included in normal detergents you may find that adding ½ a cup of lemon juice to the rinse cycle of a medium load of whites will lightly bleach the clothing. This technique is especially effective on clothes that are then hung to dry on the line. As an alternative to this

 

Hard Water areas

If you live in a hard water area adding ½ cup of vinegar to your rinse water can assist in helping prevent that natural greying of clothes which sometimes occurs. 

 

Brighter Whites 

To further brighten whites, you can add ½ cup borax or washing soda (both are available in the laundry section of your supermarket) to a medium load of laundry.
